The word “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy).
What is Reiki? It is a healing technique used by a therapist to channel energy into the patient by means of touch, activating the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
Reiki is often said to aid relaxation, assist in the body’s natural healing processes, develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, induce deep relaxation, help people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and improve overall wellbeing.
Conditions that Reiki has been used to help treat include:
- heart disease
- chronic pain
- neurodegenerative disorders
- Crohn’s disease
- fatigue syndromes
